Message from Chris

Chris TaylorThank you for visiting our site. I appreciate your support as our community continues to address the challenges of making the ninth district a better place to live, work and educate our children. As I have been out in the district sharing my plans for concrete change, many people have conveyed their thoughts, ideas, and hopes. What impressed me most about these individuals was their conviction that they deserved and needed better, not just for themselves, but for their families, friends, and the community as a whole. Often, people feel like their voices are not being heard. I can bring your voices to the city council and make sure that you are heard, but I cannot do so without your help. We need to stand up together and demand better.

With this election, we can send a unified message to our elected officials and to all of Baltimore that we cannot be taken for granted. Our leaders must earn our support; they can no longer rely on their years in office or having a familiar name. We deserve a chance to be heard. Join me in my effort to become our city council representative.

Top Issues

Reduce the number of vacant houses in each of our district’s neighborhoods. Using community- mapping tools to identify each neighborhood’s strengths, city-owned houses will be released for sale on targeted blocks. A portion of the money from the sale will go back to the community for neighborhood improvements, making the district more attractive to potential homeowners.

Create jobs by supporting local businesses and encouraging the establishment of new ones. Taking advantage of the district’s HUBZone designation to direct federal contracts to local businesses and using community wealth building strategies to increase asset ownership and anchor jobs locally will strengthen the 9th district and reverse its decline.

Reduce crime by taking a more proactive approach in the community. Dedicating more cops to walkingour neighborhoods, establishing more healthy spaces and activities for our youth, and increasingoutreach to the at-risk and reentry population will help to stop crime before it starts.

Reduce the property tax rate by 2 to 5% each year over the next 15-20 years. As people begin tomove back into the city and choose to stay within the city’s borders, we will increase revenue withoutdecimating the budget and its services and programs.
